Spring Destinations 2024
Nashville
Whether it’s a last-minute spring getaway or the start to an incredible summer, Nashville is your destination for unforgettable experiences. The Tennessee Tulip Festival runs from March 16-April 14. Head to Lucky Ladd Farms with the family to enjoy a petting zoo, mega slides, trail rides and 700,000 bulbs blooming at just the right time. It’s the largest you-pick tulip farm in the Southeast United States. If country music is your jam then you can’t get any better than the CMA (Country Music Awards) Fest June 6-9. Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, and Eric Church are some of the headliners.
Austin
After the cold and rainy winter we’ve had, how about some lazy days tubing down a river or jumping in a spring? Combine that with a drive through the hill country and world-class cuisine and you have your perfect getaway in Austin. The Hamilton Pool Preserve is a historic swimming hole which spills out over limestone outcroppings to create a 50-foot waterfall as it plunges into the head of a steep canyon. It’s so popular, you’ll need reservations. The city’s most famous conference and festival South by Southwest (SXSW), one of the world’s premier events showcasing music, film, and interactive media, happens March 8-16.
Provo
Have an angler in the family? This is the perfect time to learn to fly fish in during what they call the “ice off fishing” season. When the snow in the mountains starts to melt, it brings amazing conditions to the rivers below. Provo River Outfitters is world famous and with their help maybe you’ll catch your own Rainbow Trout. The Sundance Ski Resort has lifts for mountain biking and free concerts during the summer. Now open a series of pools made from local natural hot springs. After a mountain bike ride down a real mountain you may need the healing effect of a good soak!
Bentonville
History, Nature, Adventure, and Culture come together in a perfect Walmart package in this town. The home of the mega-chain is now a quaint town where you can tour the original five and dime. Surrounded by perfect terrain, this corner of Arkansas takes its mountain biking for bikers of any level, seriously. Check out the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve which looks like an amusement park for two wheels. Local Crystal mines will help you find your own Quartz (Arkansas is second only to Africa as the largest cluster of Quartz in the world). And speaking of world-class, Crystal Bridges is one of the best American Art Museums in the country.
Key West
Every child in Florida must visit the Southernmost Point of our state. The history of Key West is a fun lesson to learn touring by renting bikes and riding through landmarks in town like Truman’s Little White House or Hemingway’s home. Key West is a great home base for day trips to unforgettable snorkeling on the other side of the overseas highway or by boat ride to the Dry Tortugas National Park. Discovered by Ponce De Leon in 1513, it is the location of Ft. Jefferson, an unfinished fortress built in the 1860s where you can now snorkel and camp.
